Found at an ancient site in Mohenjo Daro – one of the main cities of the Indus Valley Civilization – the Pashupati Seal is one of the earliest depictions of Shiva the Adiyogi.

Seal found at Mohenjo-Daro (Seal No.222), also shows the three-faced figure seated in a yogic posture. He is wearing a horned headdress with a leafy branch (probably a branch with three peepal leaves) in the center, and his arms are adorned with bangles. He is seated on a stool having legs carved in the shape of bovine hooves. There are, however, no animals surrounding this yogic figure.
